Objectives and Scope
The objective of the special issue is to amalgamate the high-quality research work on the “financialization” of commodity futures and options, in the early 2000s and “de-financialization” thereafter. The focus will be on causes and consequences of recent peaks and troughs of energy and commodity markets covering all commodity categories (agricultural, metals, softs, etc.) and the implications for markets, prices, institutional traders, commercial traders, producers, and regulators. Besides exploring the financialization theories and empirical evidence, the issue will contain stat-of-art econometric advances to explore and document the economic and financial implications of such events specifically for the index traders and other institutional investors interested in commodity markets.
